—Untitled (Ragdoll Boss)

Wood, iron, electric motor
210 x 85 x 20 cm
Inspired by the game ‘Ragdoll Blast’, Michael Sailstorfer created a simple marionette of wood, whose head is fastened to the wall while its limbs dangle back and forth. The figure swings, sometimes more intensely, sometimes less, from left to right, and now and again it turns 360° around its own head. The wooden limbs clatter loudly as they whirl about, making the sculpture’s movements seem like an unintentionally clumsy and wooden but nonetheless daring acrobatic interlude.

Concrete mixer, gas flame, popcorn
218 x 123 x 72 cm
Continuing to explore sculpture‘s self-producing process, Untitled (1:43-47) is an endlessly flowing popcorn machine that addresses both the surface expansion of a kernel (43 to 47 times bigger once popped), and the expansion of the boundaries of sculpture itself.
